Stairs are factored into your quote upfront. When you request your estimate, let us know your floor and whether there's elevator access — we price it accurately from the start, not after the truck is loaded.

We recommend booking 3–4 weeks in advance. During peak season (May–September) and end-of-month dates, 4–6 weeks is safer. That said, we do our best to accommodate last-minute moves — call (212) 484-1095 to check availability.

Yes. We're available Monday through Friday 8:00am–6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm. We're closed Sundays. Weekend spots — especially Saturdays — book up faster than weekdays, so reserve early.

We accept cash, credit card, check, and Zelle. Payment is due at the end of the job. We'll confirm the payment method with you when booking.

Every Moving Genie quote includes the crew, the truck, standard moving equipment (dollies, straps, moving pads), and the labor to load, transport, and unload. Packing services, specialty item handling, and long carry fees are quoted separately if applicable.

Disassemble any large furniture that needs to come apart. Pack all boxes and seal them. Apply for an NYC DOT parking permit for move day if you're in the city (free at nyc.gov/dot — submit 7 days out). Reserve your elevator if required by your building. Have payment ready. And set aside a personal bag with essentials you'll need the first night — phone charger, toiletries, medications — so it doesn't go on the truck.

Apply online at nyc.gov/dot for a temporary no-parking permit. Submit at least 7 days before your move date. The permit reserves curb space for your moving truck in front of your building and is free to obtain. We remind all our customers to apply for this at booking — it makes a significant difference on move day.

A standard tip for NYC movers is $20–$50 per mover for a local move, depending on difficulty and duration. For long, complex, or physically demanding jobs, $50–$100 per mover is appropriate. Tip in cash directly to each mover at the end of the job — not to the company.

We handle your belongings with care on every job — damage is rare. If something is damaged, document it with photos immediately and contact us within 24–48 hours of the move. We carry liability insurance and will work with you to address any legitimate damage claim promptly.

Yes. We provide Certificates of Insurance (COI) for co-ops, condos, and managed apartment buildings that require them. Let us know your building's specific COI requirements at least 5 business days before your move date so we can prepare the documentation.

We use our own trained crew on every job — no subcontractors. Francois Brown, the owner, is personally involved in every move. You get the same reliable team every time, not whoever was available that day through a third-party service.

Yes. The Moving Genie LLC was founded by Francois Brown in January 2021 and is personally operated by Francois on every job. We don't use subcontractors — our crew is our crew. That means consistent quality and an owner who is accountable for every move we take on.

Yes. We offer full packing and unpacking services with all materials included — boxes, tape, padding, and wrapping. Packing can be added to any move or booked as a standalone service. We handle fragile items, specialty pieces, and standard household contents. Ask about packing when requesting your quote.

Yes — we offer standalone junk removal and hauling throughout Queens and NYC Metro. We remove furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, and general clutter from homes, apartments, and offices. Same-day availability when possible. Junk removal can also be combined with a move on the same day.
