How It Works

HOW IT
WORKS

1

Piano Assessment

Tell us about your piano — upright or grand, approximate age and weight, current location (floor, staircase access, doorway width), and destination. Grand pianos and large uprights require more planning and crew than smaller instruments. We'll quote accurately based on your specific piano.

2

Specialized Equipment Setup

We arrive with a piano board (skid), professional piano straps, heavy-duty moving blankets, and floor protection. Grand pianos require leg removal and special rigging — we handle all of it.

3

Professional Piano Move

Our crew uses proper technique throughout — never tilting an upright too far, never rushing a staircase carry, never dragging across floors. The piano is padded, strapped to the board, and controlled at every stage of the move.

4

Placement and Setup at Destination

We maneuver the piano into your desired room and position it exactly where you want it. Floor protection stays in place until the piano is set. One note: pianos typically need tuning 2–4 weeks after a move, once they've acclimated to the new environment — we always mention this so clients can plan ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

PIANO MOVING FAQ

  • Piano moving costs in Queens depend on the type of piano (upright, baby grand, or concert grand), the number of flights of stairs, whether disassembly is required, and the destination distance. Every quote is upfront and binding with no hidden staircase fees. Call (212) 484-1095 for a free piano moving estimate.
  • Yes. Grand and baby grand pianos require the removal of the legs, lyre, and lid before transport. Our crew is specifically trained in grand piano disassembly, custom wrapping of each component, board and pad loading, and full reassembly at the destination.
  • Yes — stair navigation is standard for us in Queens and NYC. We use piano boards, stair rollers, and proper rigging to safely navigate any number of flights. We assess your specific staircase before quoting to ensure we bring the right equipment.
  • Every piano is wrapped in heavy-duty furniture pads and specialty piano wrap, secured with professional straps, and loaded onto a piano board designed specifically for the instrument's weight distribution. The truck bed is padded and the piano braced against movement during transit.
  • Yes. Basement piano moves require careful planning and the right equipment. We use stair-climbing dollies and a crew sized to the weight of the instrument. We assess basement staircase dimensions and clearances before quoting.
  • Piano moving does not include tuning — this is always performed by a separate piano technician and is recommended 2–4 weeks after any move to allow the instrument to acclimate to its new environment. We can refer you to experienced piano technicians in the Queens area.
  • A local upright piano move in Queens typically takes 1.5–3 hours depending on stair access and distance. Baby grand and grand piano moves take longer due to disassembly and reassembly. We'll give you a specific time estimate when you request your quote.
  • Same-day piano moving is available based on crew scheduling and equipment availability. Call (212) 484-1095 to check current same-day availability for piano moving in Queens and NYC.
  • We move all types of pianos: spinet, console, studio, and full upright pianos; baby grand pianos; parlor grands; and concert/full grand pianos. Each type has different handling requirements — we assess yours specifically when quoting.
  • Yes. All piano moves are fully insured. For extremely valuable or antique pianos, we recommend discussing additional valuation coverage when booking to ensure coverage matches the instrument's appraised value.
  • Yes. Long-distance piano transport from Queens to other states is available. Pianos are climate-appropriately protected, secured in a dedicated truck, and delivered with the same care as a local move.
  • Clear a path from the piano's current location to the exit, confirm elevator reservations if needed, measure doorways and hallways in advance for grand pianos, and have the piano keys accessible so we can check damper function before moving.
